Mrs Beanbagwhat if the real reason for the social media ban is so that young people can't make friends internationally and thus don't find out that things are better elsewhere, or that Other Opinions also exist.

@mrsbeanbag that is exactly the point. Also phone bans in schools serve this purpose too, it's all to monopolize children's access to information so they're more easily manipulated.
