For #MountainMonday I have this view from Foster's Point, an easily reachable vista point along the long-distance Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) in the Laguna Mountains of San Diego County, California. In spring, the transition from higher-elevation green mountain chaparral to the barren desert is clearly visible.

@[email protected] remarkable photo! I don’t recall seeing such a smooth colour gradient in a landscape before.
@basepair San Diego County gently rises towards the east and then drops quite abruptly into the desert (which is what you see). The mountains are a barrier that catch the clouds and rain — the landscape further east is in what's called a "rain shadow".
