I wrote this post back in 8th June when i started losing my patience from countless quarrels and felt like i wanted to write a post. And slightly edited it as well. SO, what's on my mind?
WHY the fuck is anyone surprised? I understand why people are upset, but they (you) upset for the wrong reasons. Because it's not brand's logos you should be worried about, but rather what they do. Logos are just a PERFORMANCE and nothing more. They don't care, never were and never will. Putting up rainbow logos is the cheapest way ever to not let the fire spread (le to not make people angry). There's a million, billion and trillion ways to express what you feel about anything or to do, and they did and doing NONE of those. Sure they also were selling LGBT merch before and similar stuff, but this is purely just for money and to somehow attract young audience into their stupid brands. It never meant anything as well. Do you remember when BLF hyped years ago across the whole internet? Brands did the same crap back then and ended it a year or so when a hype was gone. Your friends who's with you only when you're in a good state? People who are drowning animals and then rescuing them on camera? Your parents who's telling you how they proud of you only if you did a fucking homework? That's absolutely the same thing. Any brands who's just putting up LGBT logos and doing nothing else ACTUALLY useful are all performers. Even my local library doing that every year. They're putting up 10 flags above information desk, 1 slightly bigger one on the 2nd floor and 12-14 books on LGBT topics in front of the exit so it'll be the first thing for people to see. I counted out of curiosity. I'm visiting this library almost everyday and i NEVER saw these books there before (but all others - yes, every few weeks), because they're HIDING them. If they REALLY cared they would putted up at least flags for all year long.
Just to clarify, i don't have anything against ordinary people who's selling LGBT merch. Because they're not brands and don't shitton of money to do something bigger. Also i don't attack indie-creators in general unless they did something BAD. But if there's any of you who's selling merch ONLY on pride month this is not quite good of you. Do you really care or you need money and popularity only.
I don't give a fuck about brands and their everyjune performance so it's not upsetting me personally as i always knew about this, but ordinary people's reaction is surprising to me on many levels, because i was sure majority of people know about this. I understand how you might feel, that it's sad and upsetting and you should be upset over something bad. But it's always have been true, that's not a new 2026 thing. That's what you should care about the most, not brand's logos.
A few more examples with links that can prove my opinion right (i stumbled on them accidentally, so decided to add here as well). I checked and rechecked information to make sure i'm not spreading bullshit by myself.
- Brands who have donated to anti LGBT politicians including McDonald’s who put up a rainbow logos this year (also who the fuck donates to them in their right mind) why.https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/pride-month-anti-gay-politicians-companies-b1862009.html
- The list of many companies that stopped sponsoring LGBT events for different reasons, some of them after DECADES of support (for money ofc) https://www.advocate.com/news/companies-that-stopped-sponsoring-pride#rebelltitem9
Actually i'm pretty sure that there's many ordinary people who have the same or similar opinion, but i didn't saw any except one video on yt so far. So i can't know. Also i want to draw something about this topic, got an idea while thinking about it (but this crap gave me a terrible headache with a 4.5 hours of sleep so i don't want to do anything with it so far).
