1) Trump has the attention span of a goldfish (with apologies to goldfish)

2) Trump is bored

3) Trump wants to move on to something simpler: see #Cuba

4) someone somewhere in the #WhiteHouse has finally convinced Trump that he has backed himself into a corner of his own making, and it's time to cut his losses and move on
