Reminder that re-usable zip-ties exist, don't cost much more and are super useful.

@yngmar i've got some velcro ones 😊
@yngmar I’ve never seen those! I reuse as many ordinary zip ties as I can persuade to open with a small flat screwdriver, but sometimes it’s just too fiddly.
@OrangeMenace Yeah, these are super easy to open, so they get used a lot in "hold this for a second" jobs or to tidy away bits of hose or cable until next time.
@yngmar Come on, I am sure, you're not that bad. You probably could have got a wife even without them.😜
@yngmar I have actually never seen those before!
@yngmar Recently I solved a personal mystery I had with respect to zip ties. Some were incredibly cheap in discount stores, yet they can be significantly pricier in hardware stores. The reason? The expensive ones typically feature UV-resistance. If a bag of zip-ties does not say anything about UV, then it's almost centainly not UV-resistant. It will work, but if used outdoors it won't last super long because of lacking that UV-resistance. That feature is very much worth paying the extra price for some use cases.
@raulinbonn PP vs HDPE, err, polyamid actually
@yngmar Google AI provides a table where several things are shown to be different between the UV resistant and not-UV-resistant zip ties:
