Very subtle couple of episode tittles...
Very subtle couple of episode tittles...
War paint is supposed to go on your face, idiot.
Most hunter antagonists in fictions:
- This is too easy. I want a chance to fail.
*fails*
(not this time, but you already know this will be the resolution of the episode...)
EMH bedside manners being so bad he had to write theatrical reenactment for him to practice is funny, but what's even funnier is that it ends up being useful to Seven. And I suppose to other socially unskilled people.
It's also a good job on EMH part. He truly is one on the best character in the franchise.
#starTrek #startrekVoyager Maybe I have spoken too soon..
Maybe they did have a surprised pikachu moment way sooner than i expected.
Seven and Kathryn bouncing their philosophal view off each other is a great plot device. Socrate would be proud.
The way the Hirogen are portrayed, I'm not sure what to make of...
It seems very troppy and really not well though out. They feel like the writing team went "let's make wolves in space, except they have more advanced technology than Starfleet somehow." and they don't actually know how wolves pack work.
Any space faring specie in startrek should have a way of acquiring technology. The Klingon being cast as a warrior race have this problem too, even with their more nuanced interpretation.
What do you mean last time?
... Why did no one saw B'Ellana be attacked ? there were people around her with phaser rifles.
Let the guy resume his hunt, Kathryn.
"If he step out of line, shoot him."
Wow, Kat, I'm not sure this is the best way to make peace with the Hirogens.
I guess the hunter's threat touched a nerve.
Thanks Tom XD
Chakotay is, as always, bad at working with "no so friendly temporary allies". He kind of piss me off when he does that.
The game is cooperation, Chakotay, not "who has the biggest ego".
I love that the only reaction from Tuvok to Seven loosing her nerves and shooting a floating pad is just : "You missed."
That's a nice sentiment Kat. I don't think I would have made the same call here, but that's what Starfleet officer have to stand up for.
The alien is from a very agressive and imperialist society. I probably would have let the Hirogen hunt it down and secured an understanding with the wolfes.
Knowing the current condition of the alien... I don't know. It seems a lost cause honestly, but letting the hunter have him wouldn't have felt right either.
Maybe the Hirogen's threat helped her make this decision. She has thrown bystander under the space bus before for the sake of the crew.
Kat: "It is wrong to sacrifice another being to save our own life."
Seven: "I have observed taht you have been willing to sacrifice your own life to save the lives of your crew."
This is a brutal call out! Call EMH! XD
I'm going to side with Seven here and just say that ordering someone to do something that is abhorrent to them is crap leadership and borderline autoritarian.
You can try to make people see thing your way, but at some point you have to either find someone else who will do the thing you want or not do the thing.
This is Janeway call out day or what?
I don't think Kathryn is frightened by Seven's show of individuality, but she's clearly piss-off Seven didn't agree with her view on the situation and also disregarded a direct order.
And I fully agree with Seven that the punishment is motivated by Kat's bruised ego.
Plus the show make it rather apparent that Seven's actions saved Voyager here. I don't like the Hirogen, I don't like that Voyager couldn't deny their demands, but this was the situation. Seven saved the ship. i don't think Katheryn is that petty as to resent that last fact, but you could make the argument.
So I'm not sure what's the actual take of the episode here. Not even sure it takes side between Seven and Kathryn.
I mean I suppose Kathryn has the last words.
It seems very important to the writers that the chain of command is respected. At the same time it agree that it comes into conflict with the values of individuality the Federation and Starfleet promotes.
And it's not like other starfeet officers never disobey orders. And usually when they save the day doing so, they are lightly reprimanded then thanked. Here Seven is just severely reprimanded.
It feels heavy handed from Kathryn's part.
Also I'm kinda bummed the training with EMH doesn't come up again in the episode.
