Good morning folks

Listening to #WhartsonHall playing the #Drinax campaign, and I'm very glad.

Their original run was one of my favourites, but I seem to recall the audio wasn't good so I don't relisten

'I applied for hundreds of jobs, this tip helped me get one'

I suspect, this is not the person you want to listen to for job hunting advice.

@DarkestKale Nobody said this at the time, that I remember… hey ho.
@RogerBW I'm going off my very flakey memory here :)
@DarkestKale I'm using the same recorder setup, but no longer recording in the garden (next door got a small yappy dog, who is better now but I've built the videoconference rig in my bedroom).. @lordof1 has a better microphone and definitely a better Internet connection.

@RogerBW @lordof1 *nods* Do bear in mind, none of this is anything other than 'it's an indication of how well things are going now'.

Some of the older files just have one person very low, etc and that's just how it is.

(Similar too how - at least, to my impression - everyone in the group has much better internet connections and it's better not being on google hangouts anymore :D )

@DarkestKale @lordof1 Sudden realisation that I didn't run my own jitsi setup until March 2020. But that was still just barely before it was cool; we'd been looking at various other options before that.
@RogerBW @lordof1 I think it's Nick who gets disconnected in one episode and basically just monologues for 15 mins in a very charming way until it reconnects.
@DarkestKale @lordof1 Yeah, that data path is effectively now my backup recording. The oldest recording I have with individual tracks per player is Achtung Cthulhu #4 in March 2020.
@DarkestKale @RogerBW awwww. I have no memory of this. Or anything more than a day old as regards our games
@lordof1 @DarkestKale It's one of the Flight 13 sessions I think.

@DarkestKale Oooh... is this the right place for it? https://tekeli.li/whartson-hall/

Is there a good jumping-in point in terms of quality?

I don't listen to a lot of live plays, but do enjoy them, and my ass has just been brought out of GM retirement and handed a set of 5e manuals.

Whartson Hall recordings

@HauntedOwlbear That's the spot.

It's worth noting that over the years, there's been basically an entire cast shift at least once with @BigJackBrass being the sole survivor :)

The tone of earlier runs is a bit different, as different folks, and it was in person, etc.

@HauntedOwlbear As for quality, @RogerBW just noted that about 2020 is where they started doing individual recordings, so things are quite a bit better from there.

I'm very fond of Roger's Bayern run.

@DarkestKale @HauntedOwlbear @RogerBW "Is there a good jumping-in point in terms of quality?"

We tend to specialise in jumping off points, to be honest.

@BigJackBrass @DarkestKale @HauntedOwlbear I think he means audio quality, not the other thing.
@RogerBW @DarkestKale @HauntedOwlbear Oh. Oh, I don't know anything about that. People listen, do they? Surprising.
@HauntedOwlbear @BigJackBrass @RogerBW @DarkestKale the audio quality of mercy is not strained. Except before I got my snowball mic a couple of years ago.
@HauntedOwlbear @DarkestKale start anywhere that piques your interest. If feeling SciFi, Bayern is a good recent long run. The four episodes of Strontium Dog from August 2018 are a strong shorter run. Anything tagged Forgotten Futures is especially worth a listen.
@HauntedOwlbear @DarkestKale also, all of the Wharticulture episodes are excellent overall discussions that can guide you to places of interest
