Yeah, Devuan is Debian minus systemd (which you can still do manually by dropping into a shell during Debian installation, but this was easier. XD)
I'm still running Linux on several boxen. This was my CachyOS laptop, but I decided to hop to Devuan next.
I've got an OpenSuse SFF desktop and my work machine is vanilla Debian. ;)
@rl_dane Wow, that's a lot to keep straight in the head :p I'm having enough difference with debian/ubuntu/oracle linux (puke) at work and arch at home :p
But it's probably a good way to stay sharp :) Ah so BSD is still in the good graces :)
...with debian/ubuntu/oracle linux (puke) at work...
OUCH. Horricle gotta horricle. You have my sympathies. Heck RedHat has my sympathies, and that's a rare thing, indeed! 😆
But it's probably a good way to stay sharp :) Ah so BSD is still in the good graces :)
Well, having it is a hobby is definitely a privilege. :D
Yeah, the BSDs are still a lot of fun to mess around with. The other nice thing about devuan is that you still get eth0 and wlan0, not wlpskjksjdfkjsdfeieio942. 😂
@rl_dane Oracle linux is just rebranded redhat anyway :p probably with some oracle repos added, it's what the ERP company demands for their DB-Server, so it's what they got, not happy about it, but it does work I guess, we replaced a 2009 version of Open suse with it about a year ago :p So it's at least one that isn't really connected to the internet at least.
Well, having it is a hobby is definitely a privilege. :D
That I could think yeah, but at least it's a lot more productive than something like Haiku ;)
ah real interface names are nice, and then probably a normal way to configure them as well, rather than having to fight the systemd unit files :p
If I liked using the mouse more (or if I wasn't on laptops most of the time), I could probably really get into #Haiku. It's a neat little OS, and has a workable command line, IIRC.
Just no disk encryption or even local security model (very 90s home os ;)
But something that would be fun to run in a VM.
Same goes for #SerenityOS, a Unixy OS with a windows 9x aesthetic. It also has a custom unix shell that looks kinda neat.
I didn't know about the 4chan connection. I didn't think he was directly fash, but just kinda white and oblivious?
(Not that that is much of an excuse, folks need to get some awareness, already).
Well, it was kind of telling when watching some of his videos when he was working, he's faschistic in more of a swedish way, so it's a bit harder to see from the outside maybe, but he always was a bit weird in the way that he did the whole christianity thing, when they started doing the web browser one of the first pages they used for testing was rendering 4chan, and he waxed poetically about the time he used to be there all the time, and then the whole "keep it non political" where of course being LGBTH+ or non-white is political, while being cis and white is not.
Ah, Swedish Fash would probably fly right under the radar of this Texas boi. 😂
Like... how would I even notice? lol (sad for me)
I don't know how anyone waxes poetic about 4chan. What a dumpster fire.
