I'm interested in playing some current #games such as #ClairObscur and whatnot, but very unenthusiastic about spending money on a new graphics cards.

I dont really ever feel the need to play any AAA games, and IMO the AA games that use the wasteful current-gen graphics engines are beautiful, but not more so than the ones that use last gen graphics or even older. Im putting #ClaireObscur into that bucket.

@domi

IIRC, there have been some attempts at literal photorealism in games, but I would have to call that experimental and I'm sure the devs who worked on said games would agree.  It's just like how there's always some piece of artwork that just so happens to be photorealistic, that you would look at and be like, "Wow, that's beautiful," and how there's also—as a function of quantity, at least—way more artwork that's not even in the same ballpark as photorealism, nor trying to be, that would also make you make the exact same comment.  Incremental advancements in graphics technology and their use do not a beautiful game make.

@plutarch good conparison! Ill remember this
