Former Senate leader Mitch McConnell is admitted to the hospital

Mitch McConnell is in the hospital. That word comes Sunday from the Kentucky senator's spokesperson. There's no immediate information about why he's there or what his prognosis is. The Republican lawmaker is 84 and his health has been a subject of scrutiny for years. He was the longest-serving Senate leader in history before stepping aside from that role while finishing his final term, which ends in January. McConnell's spokesperson says the senator is receiving “excellent care.” It's not immediately clear whether McConnell is in Washington, his home state or elsewhere.

@TheJen I have a couple things to say on McConnell...

1.) Holy fuck, the man is older than dirt. How is he still alive?

2.) He is the architect of how and why we are all here where we are.

His long, agonizingly slow death populated from multiple strokes, fall injuries, and whatever other serious medical conditions really is the perfect karma.

He genuinely deserves the worst and we have been and are witnessing it in real time. I am sure there will be a lot of people reading this toot and thinking to themselves, "Wow, Some Guy is a real asshole!"

No, McConnell is.

@someguy @TheJen He is so old that my sister interviewed him when he was first running for office for some Louisville newspaper, because that was the dominant media. 1980 -81’ possibly?

@someguy @TheJen
I’m troubled by the idea of me rejoicing at the death of any human creature. (Not that I’m at all “better” than those who aren’t thus troubled. It’s more of a conditioned reflex, an artifact of the way I was raised.) (My feelings about Bin Laden’s death were, uh, pretty darned complicated.)
But I took the above toot to be in response to McConnell’s being dead, & so I went to check, & he isn’t (yet)- and, yeah, I’m a little bit disappointed.*

*And will likely, according to the strictures of my youth, burn in hell. Ho hum.

@Gorfram
I will read his obituary with much satisfaction.
@someguy

@TheJen @Gorfram His obituary and Trump's.

Let's not mince words. We are seriously worse off as a nation because of Mitch (and Trump). It will take us generations to recover from this nightmare, if we ever do.

@someguy
It won't recover in my lifetime.
