What liberals will never understand is that there is no going back. We will not return to a 'normal' America, if that ever even existed. We will get to decide between socialism and barbarism. We will run head first against the wall until we answer this question correctly.

@ErikUden

"normal" America is exactly what allowed things to get where they are now.

At root, it's 'cuz we're running the beta test Constitution, and deliberately sabotaged it to get the slave states to sign on. That's why 70% of our senators represent 30% of the country. If it were balanced, the first thing Americans would have used their democracy to do is free the slaves, and that couldn't happen. So we ended up with a traditional European feudalism sporting a superstructure of bullshit democracy.

The surprise is that the bullshit held together this long, rather than that it dissolved so easily.

@Uair @ErikUden it should have been redone after the civil war but in the pattern that would repeat itself the north was more concerned with appeasing the self and returning to the status quo than solving the Deep underlying issues
@fluffykittycat @Uair @ErikUden TBF, the 13th-14th-15th Amendments were pretty profound (or would have been if they'd been enforced as written from the get-go).
@msbellows @Uair @ErikUden the consistent mistake we keep making is going too easy on racist motherfuckers. I think we should try overcompensating in the other direction this time and see what happens
@Uair @ErikUden and Europe got rid of that feudalism as it's only leading to suffering and wars.

@assimilateborg @ErikUden

Americans are way too comfortable starting wars because we've never seen the devastation it causes. Even in the Civil War, not much real damage was done. Not like Europe after either World War. I really hope we can outgrow this without being invaded and having our nose rubbed in it.

@Uair @ErikUden and today it is possible to win a war just by using cheap drones. See the catastrophe on Iran, or how Ukraine is doing.
