The hot weather is here, so it's time to roll out my TV program idea once again...

We send Nao-san and Atsuko-san to perform increasingly daredevil outdoor tea ceremonies🧗‍♂️🍵

The Doro Gorge (瀞峡 'Doro-kyō') straddles the borders of Nara, Mie and Wakayama prefectures.
Situated at the headwaters of the Kitayama River, the ravine is part of the Yoshino-Kumano National Park (吉野熊野国立公園), and is one of Japan's special natural monuments of scenic beauty.

Tea down in the gorge.

To all TV execs out there...
...there is nowhere Nao-san or Atsuko-san won't go to perform tea ceremony😉

Hayashi rice (ハヤシライス) may not be the fanciest of dishes, but you can't beat this lunch view!✨

Hayashi rice is a popular Western-style dish of beef, onions and button mushrooms covered in a thick demi-glace sauce. It's mostly unknown in Western countries🤔
The meal originated in the mining town of Ikuno, but was perfected by a French engineer working there in 1868.

What more fitting sweet for tea by the river than Tawaraya Yoshitomi's (俵屋吉富) 'Kamogawa-ayu' (鴨川あゆ).
Delicately flavoured with ginger, the confection is inspired by young sweetfish gathering in the clear blue waters of Kyōto's Kamo River.

Yamabiko-bashi (山彦橋) reaches across the Doro Gorge (瀞峡) from Nara to Mie. Constructed in 1984, the suspension bridge is 25m high and 83m long.
Astonishingly it was damaged in 2011 by Tropical Storm Talas (紀伊半島大水害), the river waters rising above the bridge!😲

I have totally forgotten who sent this to us, so I do apologize...but it is a lovely drawing of Nao-san on the Yamabiko Bridge.

Rainy season! What rainy season?✨😎

The Doro Gorge is a 31km jagged ravine, with steep cliffs soaring (some more than 50m high) above the turquoise waters of the Kitayama River.

From upstream the gorge is divided into the Okudoro (奥瀞 'inner'), Kamidoro (上瀞 'upper'), and Shimodoro (下瀞 'lower') sections.

'Doro' (瀞) in this case refers to a deep part of a river where the current is gentle. The Kitayama River reaches depths of 20m in some parts.
The lower section of the gorge is also known as 'Dorohacchō' (瀞八丁). It is lined with strange shaped rocks and caves.

Some most excellent news...
Both Nao-san and Atsuko-san revealed this morning that they have long dreamed of doing a bungee jump🙌

Now we just need some TV execs to commission our show about extreme tea ceremonies😝

Oh to be back here again✨🥰
@camelliakyoto What an amazing place, how lucky you are ! 🤩
@camelliakyoto Wonderful. Thank you for sharing.
@camelliakyoto I would definitely watch that show!

@camelliakyoto
Thank-you for the especially wonderful week!

I find bungee jumping much scarier than skydiving, because you have to throw yourself off a bridge into empty space, whereas in skydiving really you are just passively attached to a professional skydiver, and it is they who jump out of the plane/helicopter.
