well that didn't go as planned

so CatSalad's "Structured water" post made me think of "Ugly bags of mostly water" which is a quote from an episode of Star Trek that aired in 1988

However, someone heard this the first time from Dr. House, a character on the show House MD, who frequently quotes pop culture. This someone has a blog post about how that can be interpreted and how thoughtful House is.

Teach kids how to do research. I guess that's what I'm complaining about.

I went to collect a meme and got upset about someone being wrong on the internet so that's my cue to just log off for the evening
@c0debabe This reminds me of a quote falsely attributed to Banksy but has its origins from this blogger: https://mastodon.moule.world/@HUNNY_BADJA/116594942911905967 yet to this day people still attribute it to Banksy. It’s sad when people’s words are misattributed to the wrong people.

I'd like to link to Sean Tejaratchi's writing from 1999 on contempt for advertising, which is even more relevant in 2026 with the full-on assault of our senses from malware-ridden ads shoved into as many places as possible. http://www.readingfrenzy.com/ledger/2012/03/taking_the_piss Today I found out bits of this writing were falsely attributed to Banksy in the famous "People are taking the piss out of you everyday" quote, and that Sean was the original author. I was gonna screenshot the exerpt here but not enough alt text room.
