So since I saw Writing Pride prompts and because I always dabble at least for a month into new prompts I start answering them in this thread.

As far as I could gather and research it's a wild prompt posting by:
@troodon
Which means there is no master picture or text thread around.
But thank you for the prompts(?). πŸ™πŸΎπŸ’š

Edit: accidentally named @klepsydra the creator my bad.πŸ˜…

So here we go with #WritingPride #June2026

(a new prompt! yay!):
Do you have any queer protagonists?

In my main neverending WIP Star Ryde, I think of all the cast sofar, are only two hetero people, one is a loving father of 3 daughters who he raises with their mother to which he is happily married & one single mum who came back to service after her daughter married.

Most of my characters end up bi or pan. I have some demi, I work on my own perception and portrait of non binary people, because for a long time I really struggled with them and German language is a criminal offender for fluid inclusion.

I do not highlight trans* people because in my expirience this often reduces the perception of people who are not trans* to that the character is just trans* to be trans* and has nothing else going on.

In my universes male and female are just sliders on a set of scales and nobody has any problems if your sliders get mixed like 40% female, 30% male, 20% Warhammer 40k demon prince of Slaanesh, 5% catgirl/boy and 5% Maracua.
Also if you fall in love with a character and feel trapped if it turns out to be a trans* character...
Well then you are the problem not the character.

Also in my SciFi stories their is no difference between a trans* person or cis* person and gay couples can become both the biological parents of their offspring and cis* male and trans* female persons can be pregnant too.

And if a magic system doesn't improve the equality in peoples gender expression and gender specific abilities... it's not worth thinking about in my mind.

So long story short
Yes.

Does queerphobia or repression of non-cis, non-hetero people exist in your setting.

Nope in my settings only billionaires and arseholes are excluded and repressed.

I wanted to create a world without repression but honestly I rather believe in 100% plant based vegan vampires in the sun at this point as that humanity EVER gets away from that...
Which doesn't mean we shouldn't strife but maybe excluding bad actors is how it should be, isn't that what all Hero stories and children stories, action movies etc sum up to? Morals bad people get punished... Or at least have to bear the consequences for their actions? Imagine that...

How do you portray your characters' queerness?

I assert my dominance by tackling them to the ground and 'ram*' a pride flag up their favorite body opening and spraying the rainbow flag onto their butt cheeks.

*well lubricated of course and only pushing as gentle as possible with consent.

Seriously I am using what ever fits the character for its portrayal.
It most likely shows up at one point or another in a sentence like "oh btw that is my significant other (number 2 of 5)" or "yeah that's was another life before I changed my name."

I try to not highlight their identity if the character doesn't embrace it's queerness in a dramatic way.
Because why should I?
Characters drop this lines in my texts just like a cis* het dude nowadays says: "This is my wife and our 3 children."
In my stories it doesn't make a difference that the trans* woman says this or a cis* women or gay men say that's their couple of husbands and their biological children.

Have you written a character's queer awakening?

Nope not that I remember. See aboves for the why.
I work on an thought of themself asexual person realization that she is demisexual because that's what I had to realize at one point.
Otherwise people just date who they find interesting if this interests agree to date.

#WritingPride 06.06.2026

07.06.2026 Is there a queer community in your setting? How do they signal their membership?

They don't because there aren't because they aren't needed anymore...

Communities are protection, help to get along in a world that doesn't accepts you. I love this communities in our real world for their kindness , care, and respect but in my worlds this is the whole of humanity or whatever stand-in I create that acts compassionate, kind. You don't need to fear anyone for the mere mention that your partner(s) and you have the same genital or chromosomal configuration.

We are simply accepted @ respected as we are.

What is your favorite piece of queer media? (movie, tv, music, book, artwork, etc)

Movie: Room in Rome a lesbian love movie which they 'accidentally' made look like a lesbian porn movie.
Seriously you buy the movie because you have FSK 18+ thoughts and heck I ran through a lot of tissues but not for the reason one might think with two naked ladies in a bathtub on the cover... I cried more as if I would have mixed up the eye drops with onion juice.

Series: Ranma 1/2 is pretty queer in my opinion, Sailor Moon, Avatar - Legend of Kora even if it is only implied, Netflix's Shera and the princesses of power, where it isn't only implied.

Music: Lydia von Hof - on my way there, it even replaced my favorite 'dating' song Edwin Collins - Girl like You.
Teagan and Sara.
Los Fastidios as punk as it gets.

Book: Nicola Griffith - Ammonite
Alien Planet, no men, all women, same shit as on earth ...

Comic/Graphic Novel
Sunstone by Stjepan Sejic - "Iergs bah pfui a lesbian/BDSM story written by a man that's not queer that's fetish." -
Shut the fuck up and read it you m**** it's character driven and it's SOO DAmn ffffff*cking good, most of the characters are just kinky nerds and a mess of a human being.

I think that's it I can't remember more right now.

Edit Videogame Tell me why.

Who is your favorite queer historical figure?

I have a problem with historical memories, they tend to not stick, regardless how much I want them to.

I have seen some documentations about stonewall and I think a lot of the early warriors for equality and right deserve to be remembered.
Same goes for the first probably trans* persons in history that tried to change their faulty configuration.
Sadly I'm not the right person to do such...

Seriously I can't even remember all the names from my life, that once where important to me at one point, or bands I loved, without pulling double shifts in my memory center...

Free space--write anything you'd like us to know about your queer character(s)!

Blank Space brain after answering 9 prompts in a row, switching between apps to I can keep my thread open while copying the questions and it's already 0:30 am here...

Oh maybe on thing. They are unapologetic queer because their is nothing wrong with being queer.

Okay thoughts go jumpy time to wrap up...

Are there any closeted queer characters in your story?

Nope, they are all integrated and respected in their societies for who they are and people give a shipwreck about who you love.
They are simply happy that you found love and if you haven't yet they root for you, that you find one or more, if you wish to find some or more.

Are your queer characters out to their families?

Their are no closeted people in my works.

Being queer isn't anything shameful and thus it does not need to be hidden.

Have you ever included a queer sterotype, trope, or in-joke?

Yes and I do it not only for queers.
A lot of my characters are starting with a simple idea, a trope or a stereotype and this isn't anything bad. The question is how do I work with this stereotype, trope or in-jokes.

You can absolutely have your Mucho Masculino Superbuff, one line dropping, white cis het action hero of the 1980 as long you do enough for its character.

Maybe he has a lesbian sister, went to the military to support his parents and maybe he even has a problem with gay people, until his sister's girlfriend breaks the heart of his sister and he finally understands that love is love, as he sees her pain and suddenly finds that relatable.

The intent is important and to not let the trope, joke, stereotype be the final definition of the character.

14.06.2026 Ketchup
Have you ever subverted a queer stereotype, trope, or in-joke?

45 Minutes (felt) thinking of this and scrapping one answer after another (like throwing it into the paper bin) because I somehow miss what I want to say in every answer and completely derail myself.

Time to move on.

What role does love (romantic or platonic) play in your queer character's motivations?

Their motivation is driven by compassion for others in general otherwise they wouldn't act on the behalf of others and to protect them. Love isn't the biggest motivation and absolutely not getting kids or a family.
If it happens fine but I'm not focused on the weird habits of sexual measure persons in the mating season.

Would your queer characters play well in an alternate universe coffee shop setting?

I mean they are already exist in a version of a universe where they are space cruisers so why not?
