pink, fluffy pink!!!

I am very much not yet oversaturated by these vibrant colours.. I’m sure it will get old some time, but still has to emerge :D #photography #infrared

@janamarie these photos of yours really *really* make me want to mod a camera like you did ^^'

@dequbed do it!!! it is fun through and through, the mod itself, figuring out the workflow, editing photos, learning how to frame IR (spoiler: it is very much not like visible light) and then going out, hunting for something you cannot see, but have to feel (in it's multiple meanings)

the only caveat is that you _can loose your camera_ doing the mod, it can be fiddly and that you will typically loose the camera as a non-IR camera

@janamarie yeah the last bit is what's stopping me at the moment. I might start hunting for an used older gen camera, but all the objectives I have are Fuji X-Mount and those cameras are much more expensive used than the old Canon or Nikon ones :[

@dequbed yeaaaaaa, mood, I'm also otherwise fully on Fuji/X-mount and aaaa. I would love to convert an X-E2 or some camera like that, but it still is about 400-600€, it is from 2013???

I was privileged in that I used to be on canon and have a lot of canon gear as well

@janamarie The worst part is that Fujifilm has released actually designed-for IR versions of their mainline cameras, but not to the general public and I don't even want to know what a current gen made-to-order camera body like that would cost <.<
@dequbed yea! ah, finally found the correct link. It used to be available through a public seller, albeit only to verified buyers https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1750988-REG/fujifilm_600023108_x_t4_es_extended_spectrum.html
@janamarie yee, the X-T4 ES was the least bad of the bunch but also made-to-order and discontinued for over a year now <.<
Best bet for commercial options right now is to throw a few hundred bucks at kolari to modify a camera for you :P
@janamarie especially since Kolari actually *replaces* the filter instead of just removing it. I can imagine that helps a bit about firmware not choking (Fuji hits me as the kind of company that would totally write firmware not allowing mods) but I don't think its an option for DIY mods ^^'
@dequbed I feel like especially fujifilm could be the company to bring an artistic IR camera to market. With a motorized IR filter and an Aerochrome film sim for in camera editing (plus a BW IR film sim), this would be 100% on brand for the Xpro series
@janamarie Oh yeah, *absolutely*. I for one am hoping they will ^^
@dequbed just need to figure out how to pitch them that idea :p
@janamarie If enough people get fascinated by IR photography again they'll probably pick up on by themselves :P
@dequbed but seriously, I would love that. They already sold me with the 'no display' approach, but that would doubly so sell me
@janamarie It would also / however change a lot about the process because especially with film simulation you'd know exactly what the picture will look like in the end. I personally do like that, but I know a lot of people don't ^^'
@janamarie specifically, X-T4 ES, GFX100 IR, GFX100II IR and X-H2 IR, all of which except for the X-T4 ES are the top-line ones which are eye-watering expensive already.
@janamarie @dequbed That's why I had a Sony Alpha 6000 converted. About the same age, but can be found for 200-250 Euro.
@dequbed @janamarie if you are ok with a "not top notch but still very nice" camera you can borrow my modded alpha 6000 the next time we see each other
@jakob @janamarie That'd be lovely, yes ^.^
@janamarie these pictures always look so magical, I love them so much
@janamarie wait, I know these places :) good choice of subjects!
@janamarie wow parece editado
Jana (@[email protected])

as requested, here is a writeup of my recent IR photography endeavours! https://blog.janamarie.dev/irphotography.html I tried to condense everything into a coherent text with a focus on getting the aerochrome look and some background on why I do what I do. Hope this is helpful and reads well! Let me know if you have any more questions #photography #infrared (I will also try to do a UV and BW IR photography writeup. Pending I enjoy both as much as full colour IR photography)

@janamarie These are amazing, thank you for sharing!

And immediately reminded me of 'The Enclave' by Richard Mosse (somewhat heavier subject matter, but also so surreal and dream-like):
