I truly hate the old school financial model of newspapers.. but i still find it important to subscribe to one.

Toronto Star is $27 per month on a normal price... but then you call and it's $5 per month.

Just have to do that dance every year and say you are cancelling and surprise, you got a new price

There are good bones - it has been decades now since the world went online.

The Guardian I think is the best model of how a paper can adapt. In Canada, I think the Globe has done this best.

It is interesting to see what The Narwhal has done with fewer resources - but the coverage is pretty niche compared to The Toronto Star.

Same crap with my internet service.

@jerome @StaceyCornelius I have noticed that certain categories of products tend to be priced this way — ones with a high up front capital cost and a low marginal cost. Cf. cellular minutes, plane tickets, etc. It is really annoying.
