Oh dear Gestalt of tiny people who live in my computer!

Does anyone have experience with noise cancelling headphones for Autistic peeps?

Been looking around but getting overwhelmed by the various models.

Most places seem to recommend the Sony WH1000-MX5 or 6
Or
Bose Quiet comfort.

Both are rather spenny o.< so not wanting to drop a load on something that doesn't work particularly well >.<

Use case is mainly at work where there is usually constant low level noise going on. With occasional loud banging.
Being able to bluetooth to multiple devices would be useful.
Over ear is preferred
Sounding good is a must. Not an audiophile (read, gold plated optical cables kind) But I know what a good set of cans sound like! And they may get used for actual audio recording things!

Currently when things are bad, I'm putting my in ears in and putting ear defenders over those. It gets NICE and silent then >.>

@Jencen I bought a pair of Sony WH1000-XM3 early COVID, new open box for a fraction of MSRP, wore them basically everyday for 5 years, and replaced them last year with a pair of Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra, also purchased open box, but for a larger fraction of MSRP

The quiet comforts definitely have better sound quality and marginally better ANC but the Sony had better build quality, I do not think my quiet comforts will make it to 5 years like the Sony did.

Both were very effective at minimizing background noise and helping me focus. I wear the quiet comforts all day at the office to the point where some coworkers comment when they see me without them

@devkitsune @Jencen What was a real bummer was the XM4s I thought were a noticeable downgrade from the XM3 - which was a real shame.

(The AirPods 4 NC surpasses both of them - it’s pretty amazing.)
