Sean GilliesI'm a little mad about seed companies that can't or won't be careful about mixing flat pod snow peas (which are fine) and round pod snap peas (what I want) in their packets. #gardening
laura lemay@sgillies Snap peas were developed from snow peas, and I have heard that a lot of the heirloom/cheap snap pea stock has reverted. It's not the seed companies accidentally mixing two varieties, it's a problem with consistency in the existing seed.
Johnny's actually withdrew their snap peas from ordering for a few years until they worked with a breeder to develop a new line that was more consistent. Can confirm it is very high quality seed and it's all snap pea, no snow.
