"William wants his reign to ensure that the monarchy is “fit for purpose in the modern era”."

Monarchy has been unfit for purpose since the ancient Athenians invented this thing called democracy.

No vote, no legitimacy.

Do (try and) keep up, laddie!

@wood5y Wills better start selling off a lot of the houses, estates and properties currently owned and tax exempt because of them belonging to ‘Royals’. And change the laws that give special priveleges and privacy to members of the Royal family too. Get rid of much of the pomp and ostentatious waste of places & taxpayers money that his father and stepmother are so keen on. Maybe also see about removing their colonial control from all those foreign lands and confine it England only?

I once started looking into what they own as rich individuals, what the family owns, and what belongs to "The Crown" (i.e. they don't own but may have use of). It's complicated and I lost interest; I get the impression that most journalists don't even check.
It was through curiousity when Charles refused his princely payments, apparently because he didn't want the job.
It's too much, but they pay income tax. Suppose Bezos, Musk, etc got their mitts on it!
