#pppdev project will be about creating collections and pins inside of them which can be either a link,an image or a simple note.Im thinking about how to call these two entities. Right now its Collection and Pin but Pin suggests that maybe it should be Board instead of collection? On the other hand, calling them Pins dont allow us to use "Pin it to the top" terminology - which set of names is better in your opinion? Or maybe something entirely else.I guess are.na uses Collection/Block #fediverse
@mbajur I'd go with "Add to collection" and then when you want to add a spesific thing to a collection you could have it say Add link, Add image etc.
@liaizon so Collection for collections. How about the posts themselves, i need a one generic word that nicely describes all kinds of items that can be posted. Post? Pin? Ideally starting with P word, hence the PPP project name segment 😅 Basically, name will start with three letters resembling the word we're looking for, PPP for pin but it could be anything
@mbajur I just looked at what Instagram is doing and it uses the words Save to collection. I don't think calling all the things in a collection Pins or Posts is that good of an idea cause they are inherently different. If you just save an image it's not really either. I guess are.na is using Block for this reason but also designing for translation and understandability might be useful.

@liaizon what you're saying is true but, on the other hand, you are pinning the image/link/whatever to the board which kinda makes sense to me.

It's also a wording stolen from pinterest which people understand i guess? I'm kinda gravitating towards boards and pins the more i think about it but there is still time :) Also, "PPPin" is a nice and short looking candidate for a name IMO

Demo should be ready by the end of the day btw

@mbajur Is the name a nod to ffffound?
@liaizon haha holy smokes, probably subconsciously because i completely forgot about that website !! And it makes me like this form of a name even more 😅
@mbajur now thinking of words that you could use like Pool/puddle and DroPs. Maybe going full in on non tech lingo could also be interesting
@liaizon oh, i actually like that a lot, PPPond seems nice too. Like poeple having their ponds and filling them with drops of water. Isn't that a bit too abstract tho? This kind of naming enforces entire website communication to be based on this which is both cool and challenging
@mbajur you could `place` a pretty `piece` into a community `pool` on `pppond`

@liaizon i both like it all a lot and fear it's too abstract for people to understand the purpose of the app haha. Good thing about boards and pins is that they are something you use in real life to do the same thing you do on pinterest - to collect/organize visual things.

People do not put drops into a pond to organize things as far as i know haha. I love it a lot though!

@liaizon on the other hand....it's kinda partially about "rabbit holes" and i like the concept of deep diving into a pond (as going down the rabbit hole).

I can feel there is a potential in calling it a pppond actually
