Imperfection is fundamental to the universe.
The discovery that planets didn’t orbit in perfect circles threw a huge wrench into the idea that the universe was the result of some perfect “watchmaker” creator that put everything into to perfect circular orbits.
In fact, all interesting phenomena come as a result of chronic imperfection in the universe
