Startling how quickly things change in the hospitality scene. I had an article published in April 2024 listing 9 places of interest in Fremantle, and already on this trip I can see that two of the restaurants and bars I recommended have closed.

We had the same tricky problem when I used to research destinations for Lonely Planet guidebooks. You'd want to add in some popular new places so it wasn't just the same old favourites, but there was always the risk a new place would go belly-up. Roll the dice...

@timrichards it's arguably worse when they change hands and go downhill without changing the name. Or just go downhill. Then you've ended up recommending somewhere that's no good.
@timrichards It’s also really annoying when lists don’t have accurate dates so you know how current they are. Things do change unfortunately, but knowing if a description is six months old versus three years old can be helpful!
@FloatingOnion Yes that can be a pain. That article of mine in Traveller (and all the Traveller articles) have the publication dates at the top, so that's good.
@timrichards Sorry, to be clear that wasn’t directed at you!
@FloatingOnion Thats cool, just realised I hadn't included the original link: https://www.theage.com.au/traveller/inspiration/nine-must-do-highlights-of-fremantle-western-australia-20231114-p5ejtr.html It is good to have the publication date as context.

It’s impossible not to be charmed by this eclectic port suburb, also known as the gateway to Rottnest Island.
