# Hydrate Your Brain, Sharpen Your Edge
Even mild dehydration, just 1–2%, can mess with your focus, memory, and decision-making. Your brain is about 75% water, and every mental task runs better when you're properly hydrated.
What to do: (1/4)
Drink about 16–17 oz of water within 30 minutes of waking up, before you touch your coffee. Set a reminder every 90 minutes during work to keep sipping. Add a pinch of sea salt and a squeeze of lemon to your mid-morning glass — it helps your cells absorb the water faster. Use a bottle with markings on it and aim for roughly half your body weight in pounds, converted to ounces, each day.
A couple of things worth knowing: (2/4)
By the time you feel thirsty, you're already behind on fluids. And if that 3 PM slump hits hard, try swapping your afternoon coffee for water with electrolytes instead. You'll stay alert without the crash.
What you'll notice:
Clearer thinking within a day. Fewer energy dips in the afternoon. Better focus in meetings. And steady mental energy that actually lasts through the whole workday. (3/4)
