Contemplation

#NotAI

@benroyce not AI ... so ur saying someone is just taking modelling pictures of their pet snail?

@Tesseks

unfortunately the world we now live in, the problem of #AI generated photo and video might be at one level, but the far worse level problem is that people now doubt *everything*, even the real

i think this knock-on effect is more insidious than the fake shit

@benroyce @Tesseks ngl I appreciate the tag because that was exactly my first thought

@nightoo @Tesseks

i reverse searched the image, it's original

i did a dive into the poster's socials

they are a moth enthusiast primarily

genuine in all other respects: chatting normally, posting normally, no off, bot-like engagement patterns

unless OP posts their travel receipts that day, we'll never know 100%

but it's a fucking common snail species, the Pacific Sideband, overlooking a Pacific Northwest view

verdict:

this shit is real

follow up:

there was a guess in the replies that this is Cape Perpetua, Oregon

search on that, it fits

specifically, what's known as the Whispering Spruce View

i'm confident that is where the photo was taken

here's another photo, could even be the same rock:
