This article is more profound than I think the author realises. She writes about the yawning chasm between AI proponents and AI antagonists and how the other point of view needs to be considered so that the whole story is told not just the bits that support our argument. Get rid of rhetorical language ('amazing' is my pet peeve) and focus on end customer satisfaction etc. There is more - it is worth reading the article.

In a completely different sphere, a few years ago a community group I was part of made a decision to not just talk about our successes, but the terrible challenges we had along the way and the fact that we still have not reached nirvana. Basically, we decided to be truly humble about what we had done and the challenges ahead - not 'look at me' humility.

AI enthusiasts are in a race against time, AI skeptics are in a race against entropy

Both sides are grappling with a real existential threat, and both sides feel like they are screaming into the void. Here's how to close the gap and get everyone pulling in the same direction.

@perkinsy yet another "balanced" article that completely ignores the (lack of) ethics of the technology in its current state
@perkinsy Thank you for the article, polarised viewpoints not talking to each other is not helpful but so hard to overcome.
After 12 years I stopped going to a gentle exercise class because a new comer had views I found completely offensive. I requested we not discuss the subject but she kept going. What was a friendly supportive group turned tense so for the sake of the group I left.
