We were in Elmhurst for an open house on a fairly well situated apartment. Unfortunately, the agent wasn't there. Fortunately, we were in Elmhurst so we stopped at multiple places for food and snacks.
Probably the best neighborhood for us food-wise - lots of east and southeast Asian restaurants/groceries and pretty close to Jackson Heights for south Asian and Latin American cuisines.
We have very full bellies now.
Follow up- finally visited that Elmhurst apartment and two others in the same building yesterday. Each a bit small but quite nice.
Then went to restaurants/cafes/grocery stores a couple of blocks away. We sat down at a really good Nepalese place, then got takeout at a promising Burmese restaurant, followed by breads at a nice Colombian bakery and finally got things at a local Asian supermarket (Mostly Chinese, but also plenty of SE Asian products).
Food is good and prices are reasonable, so cooking won't 't have to be an every day thing in this neighborhood.
