Got myself a silicone popping bowl, some purple popcorn kernels, and a small bag of extra fine ground sea salt.

The popping bowl has two level lines to make either a small or big batch and a lid that’s placed in gently to contain the popping; it slowly rises up during the pop process.

Two batches: 1st with no fat or salt, 2nd in avocado oil and the salt. Definitely preferred the latter. After comparing, 1st was set out by the back fence for the yard denizens.

Delicious treat for all!

I used less than 5% of the kernels for the amount of popcorn you’d get from two bags of microwave popcorn. The popping bowl will pay itself off within the next ten uses.

Ordered a spray can of wagyu tallow and some nutritional yeast flakes. I have 5-7 types of salt so far. Soon I’ll try the tallow with an alder smoked salt.

Eventually I’ll branch out into mixing different seasonings with a variety of high smoke point fats.

What’s your favorite popcorn?

If I compared the cost of what I ate to what I’d get at the theater for a single movie (if I was willing to pay concessions prices)… All of my supplies have already been paid in full.

(Air popped will be used in recipes requiring popcorn as an ingredient.)
