📰 As some publishers & news organizations block the Wayback Machine from archiving journalism, Fight for the Future is urging action to prevent them from putting the future of the public record at risk.

I really want one of these branded rack blanks from the Internet Archive
@internetarchive spit take they're doing WHAT?!

@internetarchive @fight

This is a worldwide issue; not just a USA media Giants one.

Perspective please, for non US citizen readers: Do you have specific breakdowns of global media group Orgs / National Ones / And Serving High Circulation Editors of well known curated news media outlets?

Winning over the Leaders that make decisions about content needed to preserve context and balance is surely the maximum effect way to gain traction?

@internetarchive @fight WHY are they doing this, REASON is important to understand?
@internetarchive @fight ‘Some’ is doing a lot of work here. So are living journalists who shouldn’t have to choose between working for exposure and all art/science/reporting being as free as AIslop memes 🫥

@internetarchive @fight

Would it be possible to negotiate access with newspaper publishers in return for a short (say three year) delay in publishing in the archive? I agree any delay is undesirable, but this would be better than losing the historical record altogether.

@internetarchive @fight

Wayback is not the only place that archives. Just saying.
