When I was a junior, I caused a bug in production, and someone used "blame" to point out it was my fault in front of everyone…

👉 I thought - "My boss probably thinks I’m not very good at my job..."
👉 I felt - small, embarrassed, and a little paranoid...
👉 I put off committing code for a few days and constantly sought reassurance...

My confidence took a hit, which affected my performance…

👉 Not good for the employee, not good for the employer…

I'm pretty robust, but this still had an impact on me.

If you're a senior developer and you see this kind of behaviour, think of the consequences for the person on the receiving end, especially if they are junior, a new starter, or already lacking self-belief...
