I’m suddenly struck with a memory of reading a quartet of slim fantasy novels back when I was a kid … say, 1985/86/87 or so. These would have been paperback sized, but thin, maybe only 1/4” thick. They were packed in a printed paperboard slipcase. Each book had a dominant color on the spine and (perhaps?) around the cover image. Book 1 was definitely red.

It’s *possible* that these were Dungeons & Dragons stories, like mini Dragonlsnce novels, but I really can’t be sure. This was 40 years ago after all!

It’s also possible that these had some kind of a choose-your-own-adventure element? I was really into the Lone Wolf stuff from Joe Dever back then.

I’m hoping this might strike a chord with someone else out there in the Fediverse. Please boost!

Oh dang, I found them! Just had to figure out the right combo of words to search.

Dungeons & Dragons Endless Quest books! The first four came packaged at some point. Great interior artwork. Crazy memory pull …

@autumnleaves Could it be David Eddings? The Belgariard was five books not four I suppose, so probably not.
@Zaz Ah, no, but that’s a great suggestion, thanks! I read those a bit later.
