@zoocoup Thanks!
I work in pre-wildfire planning: Community Wildfire Protection Plans, hazardous fuel assessments, fuel treatment planning, etc.
I am qualified to work on a fireline (FFT2), but never have. I got into this line of work just a few years ago. This image is from Monday when I volunteered, on behalf of my employer, on a prescribed fire. (Check my feed for a video I posted yesterday.)
@zoocoup It's not a bad career and certainly something I would have considered if I got into this younger. Early retirement if you get in with a city department. I have a few colleagues my age who are retiring from CAL FIRE after 25-30. I believe some of the federal agencies offer a retirement after 20 years.
My son (19 in two weeks) is on his second season with a private company (same that I work for), and he'll easily be able to for his bachelor's degree if he does this each summer.
