I work in a library in Dublin, Ireland.

Literally just this morning I had a woman walk in the door on a speakerphone call.
She walked right up to the desk and continued on her call.
Eventually a queue started to form, and I called the man behind her forward.
Without ending her call she screamed that she was next.

Everyone ignored her outburst, except for one man who pointed her to a door and said "toddlers' library is that way love".

@John_Morgan Thank you for sharing that, I got some rather bad news this morning and that made me smile
@John_Morgan high-quality Irelanding.
@nxskok yes, we Irish tend to have a knack for it.

@John_Morgan

My experiences of the last year+ suggest she was an American.

@EthicalProfessor I'm not confirming or denying that ;)
@John_Morgan I worked at a library in Berlin for a couple years and I had encounters like that so often lol, it's wild how rude some people are! At a library of all things! But thank you for sharing the story, the cheeky comment of that man made me laugh.
@glittercleric Yeah it was certainly a highlight of that shift for me as well.

@John_Morgan Toronto’s Mercury Espresso Bar has a strict “no phones in line” policy. They are near the local film / TV studios, and assistants would show up literally relaying orders over the phone instead of making a list in advance.

I have witnessed them telling people to either put the phone away or step out of the line.

p.s. You’re a librarian? Thank you for your service to literate civilization. 🙏🏽

@BTyson @John_Morgan good! people do seem to forget that while they think the world may revolve around them... they have to share,and it is not all about them!
@John_Morgan Too funny where that guy lead her.
