apparently y’all need another good news story cuz I’ve got one.

My string trimmer thingie wasn’t working properly, so I asked my neighbor for help. He’s a retired toolmaker, my go-to guy for all things mechanical.

He took apart the head, then when he re-assembled it, it still didn’t work, so he took it apart again. On the 3rd try (I was watching like a hawk), I asked “did someone teach you this stuff?” and he said no, he always just played around with things and took them apart.

When he finally got it to work again and he was about to leave, he said he had a piece of advice for me: “don’t be afraid to take things apart, you can figure stuff out that way.”
“but…but what if I break it?”
“then you call me”

As he walked away, he said, “I give you a lot of credit for even trying. My wife wouldn’t touch something like this.”
