How does Loops compare to YouTube Shorts or TikTok?

We made this infographic to explain, please share!

#Loops
@loops Not visible on Android Mastodon. I need to open the original post in the browser to see it.
@hamoid @loops I can see it fine on the APP for Android.
@rodolforg @loops Maybe it depends on the instance?
@loops Maybe it's just me / my display, but I find the text in the table very hard to read, the font is not large and/or bold enough.
Itβ€˜s 100% better to be addicted to open-source video-scrolling platform where you really owns your feed, then on Tiktol, YT shorts, Reels etc, but I still prefer not being addicted to any of these.

@loops Bending reality like you're a thirsty capitalist start-up.

Just infuriating.

@Steel_Virgin @loops
With a non-commercial open-source project, funded by supporters, that lets you set up your own instance in the #Fediverse?

@SteanSlh @loops that's why it's infuriating. Why do Loops (and Dansup in general) needs to market the app like it's an outsider startup that needs to bend reality because it's not that different ?

like, take the "aspect ratio" row, in the infographic.
why has every app a different answer whereas, in fact, they are the same : apps made for mobile phones, in portrait. But, eventually, you can use any aspect ratio you want.

@Steel_Virgin @loops People who are new to Loops are asking themselves whether their "aspect ratio" will work just as well. Video length, adverts and tracking, network type and algorithms make a significant difference compared to other platforms. You have to decide for yourself whether you want to be a product for trading your data and whether you want to be tracked by capitalist and politically motivated algorithms in exchange for some cookies. It’s your decision.

@SteanSlh @loops I hear you, and I 100% agree. But it could have been said otherwise than by bending reality.

You seem to think that I think loops isn't a good thing. I'm glad it exists. I don't use it yet, even if I have an account already.
But I'm really glad it's there.

My only problem is how Dansup markets its apps the same way capitalists app would. It's unnecessary and, in my opinion, it's bad for the reputations of those apps. It just feels suspicious.

@SteanSlh @loops my only criticism about the app itself is that I think it shouldn't be just a replica. It should be different, it should try to be a better alternative instead of just an opensource alternative.
@Steel_Virgin @loops
Don’t take it personally; that was just my general opinion. Perhaps you have a good idea for supporting the development and distribution of loops. That would certainly be helpful, as it’s still a very small platform that could use some growing.
@SteanSlh @loops I didn't take it personnaly, don't worry. I feel this conversation very calm and interesting.
