I've been asked to give everyone an update on a very close friend of mine, @artic

Earlier this week, she was in a really bad accident and hospitalized. She could barely move her arms and legs as a result, and had surgery yesterday to help restore function to them. I've been told that she will probably need a nurse for the rest of her life now.

This happened right before she was about to start a new job, too, and finally have an income a year after she escaped her abusive parents. She was the most hopeful I've ever seen her, and then this happened. I want to help restore this hope, even if her life is going to be different going forward.
