@cestith i have like 27 of those in a bin somewhere. i just keep getting new ones somehow. is this a universal computer toucher thing or is it just me

@GroupNebula563 the 3c905 series, especially the b and c revisions, were rock solid. They had great drivers, including in even early Linux kernels. Until I needed gigabit cards, they were my absolute default. Now my 10 gigabit cards are a mix of Mellanox, 10GTek, and others at home.

At work our 10, 25, and 50 gigabit/s cards are a bit Mellanox and mostly Chelsio. 1 gig are mostly Intel, and I'm not a fan of their drivers.

@cestith I would gladly put them in some machines, but I genuinely don’t have enough machines to put them all in :P
@GroupNebula563 I keep some as spares for older machines, but those 3Com cards are just never the part that fails. Even the old ISA 10 Mbps 3c590.
@cestith yeah, I’ve heard amazing things about those old 3Com cards and I haven’t yet been let down :P
@GroupNebula563 A little disappointed a SupraExpress™️ 33.6 Fax Modem isn't an option.
@GroupNebula563 I'm so bottom that my switches are named 30p87-bottom
@GroupNebula563 can't believe there are so many bottoms on mastodon
