The sense of responsibility we all need

@stux

I returned a shopping cart that someone left out in the parking lot today

@D_Reno thank you for your service sir
@stux Lol it looked to me like the guy didn't fix anything, he just convinced them it was fixed.
@stux The little things that keep a society running.
@stux I would've done the same thing (or tried). That's so nice.
@stux someone died from this quite recently; stepped out of their car, onto a loose (or missing) manhole. Glad to see these folks were OK.

some citizens simply deserve to have 10 votes.
not taken from anyone else.
but she gets 10.
@stux I've done that :) One drizzly cold winter day I bumped by a whole manhole cover in the bike lane, Across the street from the manhole. I stopped, as did a pickup driver who'd also clocked it. He "walked" it further out of the way but they weigh a lot. In the meantime a car almost landed in the manhole.
Another guy and his wife appeared. I called 'dispatch' (police non emergency) & told 'em, turned my glowing helmet on and grabbed a string of christmas lights from the bike, and the three of us stood around the opened manhole cover and I got to use the sarcastic voice I TRY NOT TO USE at work: "AROUND. AROUND. YOU NEED TO DRIVE AROUND!!!" To which other guy said, "a Mom voice?"
No, middle school teacher :P
"We were too!!!"
Called dispatch again 'cause clearly I hadn't conveyed. "we're still standing out in the middle of Race Street diverting traffic around the hole because it's a serious hazard and it will make the cars break." And inside a minute there were blue and red lights, the officer mused for a minute and by the time I was rolling, the officer had rolled the cover back on....
.... Friend on Facebook said she was the driver that had almost gone into it and regretted not stopping but -- where to park??
And then I blogged and got some fascinating suggestions for tags, because the title was "manholes."
