Can anyone suggest an alternative to #LanguageTool? They are making their browser extension available to Premium users only due to the cost of #genAI (https://languagetool.org/webextension/premium-announcement?type=background_tab&utm_campaign=addon2-trial-page)

It seems not having the bloody genAI is not an option, and I was finding it annoying anyway.

@alesssia Grammarly is a popular free one as well. Haven't used it myself though so can't comment on the quality.

@odr_k4tana Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately it has the same genAI issue.

I was using it before moving to LanguageTool

@alesssia there's always the native Firefox Spell Checker (if you're using that browser). https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-use-firefox-spell-checker
How do I use the Firefox spell checker? | Firefox Help

Firefox's spell checker streamlines writing by auto-detecting errors, offering quick fixes and with custom dictionary additions for flawless text.

@odr_k4tana I wasn't aware of this! Thanks a lot!
@alesssia There's still the option of running an LT Server (Java) and setting the local LT Server in your extension(s). I do this because it allows me to write my own style and replacement rules, e.g., to resolve acronyms/abbreviations that often appear in the texts I work on but that are uncommon outside certain professional circles to their respective full form.
