Astra House have published some very cool non-fiction recently and I’m glad to be with them!
If you’ve been following me, you already know a lot of what’ll be inside - the Disney in the 20th and 21st centuries, Nordic Larp, jubensha - but there’s plenty more dots I’ll be joining up across the past thousand years that I think everyone will find fun and surprising!
Of course, I can’t hope to cover everything - the scope is ridiculously, foolishly broad.
But I think even the attempt helps contextualise contemporary immersive art and experience in a way that gives it a history when so many think - or pretend - that it has none.
That wide lens was essential in examining just why immersive experiences seem to have exploded in recent years, and where they might be going next…
