Pratt's Pet Store Protest · Mobilize
## Join MVI to Protest Against Pratt's Pets & Puppy Mills! Mesa Valley Indivisible members visited Pratt's Pets after one of our protests and discovered dirty and inhumane conditions for the animals up for sale. We also found they are selling puppies from puppy mills located in Missouri ### Our recent walk-through of Pratt’s Pets revealed: - Puppies supplied by cruel “puppy mills”, mass breeding facilities in rural areas that keep breeding mothers (and fathers) in wire cages their entire lives, with little to no vet care or socialization; their paws never touch the ground - Small animals with dirty or no water - Numerous birds and animals crowded into small cages - Small animals being handled by unsupervised children - Rooster in 1’x1’ cage (wingspan typically 24-36”), no bedding, unable to scratch, peck, dust-bathe, or engage in other natural fowl behavior - Piglets advertised as “mini” or “potbelly”, (a common misrepresentation)… 90% of whom, per sanctuaries, are later abandoned due to growth to 100s of lbs - 4 young employees oblivious to visitors and animals’ well-being ### CONCLUSION: - Over 300 American communities (in addition to European ones) have passed ordinances banning retail pet sales. - Thousands of consumers have filed complaints against commercial pet stores for consumer fraud, including: - Selling sick animals - Failure to honor 90-day health guarantees” (aka “Puppy Lemon Law”), resulting in massive vet bills for consumers - Use of 3rd-party high-interest finance companies to lock consumers into financial contracts they can’t afford - Lying about the source (mills) and parentage of puppies - Shipping puppies younger than 8 weeks old, a violation of the federal Animal Welfare Act - Lying about U.S. Dept. of Agriculture inspection reports and violations by breeders (mills) 📅 **When**: Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 9:00 am -11:00 am 📍 **Where**: Pratt’s Pets at 856 S.
