@crowfi #FeatureRequest

Just discovered your app, and liking it so far. Would like to see the option to resume timeline from last read position, rather than jumping to newest post, when re-opening the app.

@dandrumheller Thanks for trying out the app! I'm glad you're liking it so far. I will look into how to implement this feature and see what I can do.
@crowfi looking forward to where you go with this app! I think there is a mastodon API to remember reading position in the timeline (disclaimer: I am not a developer šŸ˜†)
@dandrumheller That's a great point! I am aware of that API, but I'll probably go with local logging instead. Doing it locally ensures I can capture and fully restore every single detail of the timeline without any server-side limitations.

@crowfi a bit of feedback after a couple days:

1) I can’t find my lists. Not sure if I’m missing where they are accessed, or there’s not a way to view them (yet?)

2) your implementation of hiding the tab bar controls at the bottom of the screen is the best in any client I’ve used. Most clients hide them in only one scroll direction. Keeping them minimized until a tap or reaching the end of the timeline is awesome.

@dandrumheller Thanks for the feedback!

You didn't miss it. There’s no way to view lists just yet. But it’s definitely on my to-do list!

That tab bar behavior is actually a brand-new feature in iOS 26. Glad you love how it feels!

@dandrumheller Crowfi TestFlight v0.23 is live! Introducing the new ā€œListsā€ feature. Feedback is welcome!
@dandrumheller That's also a feature I'd like to see. Have you seen it work anywhere else?
@technicaladept yes, in more and less effective ways. On iOS, IceCubes, Mona, Trunks, and I think Ivory all offer it as an option.
@dandrumheller The ā€œHome timeline resumes after reopeningā€ feature is now live on TestFlight. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

@crowfi

First test, it does seem to remember where I left the timeline. But once it reaches the end of what was loaded at the time of leave-off and loads new posts, it jumps to most recent.

Expected behavior would be to load the posts immediately following the last loaded, so reading can continue from oldest to newest.

@dandrumheller I see what you mean. I’ll definitely take your feedback into serious consideration! Since this involves a pretty significant change to the timeline interaction, I'll likely need to design a new mode. Thanks for testing it out!

@crowfi my pleasure. I hope you’re able to implement it - as someone who likes to read the feed in chronological order, it’s an important feature for me. But I suspect I’m in the minority, since only some clients support it at all, and some of those not so well.

Not too many of us out there who read this way I guess!

@dandrumheller Chronological order has a loyal fanbase. I've added this to our feature roadmap. It might take a bit of time to roll out, but we hear you loud and clear.
@crowfi awesome! Looking forward to it!

@dandrumheller Build 1261 is ready to test. Big changes this time, so past history won't be saved.

Now, when you scroll to the top of the list, it'll automatically load the closest page and keep your scroll offset exactly where it was.

Please try it out for a while before giving your feedback.

@crowfi haven’t had a ton of time to test yet, but initial impression is that you’ve done an exceptionally good job with this! Timeline position sticks, and upcoming posts load nicely in the background. Much prefer that to the manual interaction needed in many clients.

When scrolling up quickly, I think I got ahead of the loading a couple times, and inadvertently pulled down for a timeline refresh. This seemed to jump me to the newest post. I’m guessing that’s intended?

@dandrumheller Really glad the background loading and timeline positioning are working well for you. Regarding the jump: yes, that's intended behavior. The loading trigger area at the top is 500 points, so scrolling up rapidly can easily cross that threshold and trigger a standard pull-to-refresh, which jumps you to the newest post.
@crowfi since the last timeline loading update I haven’t inadvertently triggered a timeline refresh while scrolling. Lists appear to be working just fine. Also, was the ā€˜you’re here’ toast always there when tapping a post within a thread? Or is that new? I like it!

@dandrumheller Thanks for the feedback! I'm really glad to hear the timeline scrolling feels better now.

As for the "You're here" toast, it’s actually been around for quite a while! But I’m so glad it brought a smile to your face today.
