Reading #Attensity!: A Manifesto of the Attention Liberation Movement. I am now on the path to recovering my #attention, which has been fragmented for decades.
@cosullivan sounds interesting!
@cosullivan I shall stop what I'm doing and read it at once! :-D
@marbles I'm at the part where attention is measured by 20th-century scientists by how long study subjects can keep their eyes on the screen.
I feel like either an archaism or a radical or revolutionary for edging away from a simple three-step workflow for everything to do in life; maybe the flesh-based bots have it easier because they don't have distractions or task paralysis.
@cosullivan What would a 3-step workflow be?

@marbles Depends on the situation. In my troubled world:
1. Present ordered food product.
2. Ask if product is to be consumed at location or away. Apply bag fee if consumed away. Reject customer's presentation of own bag.
3. Tell customer to swipe, insert, or tap.

The fourth step of giving the customer a receipt does not exist, of course.

According to "How Are You? It's Alan Partridge" ordering a coffee in the UK is even worse.

@cosullivan "ordering a coffee in the UK is even worse": I can't say I'd noticed! (I generally have 1 iced latte/week. Any other coffee in my diet comes in the form of coffee and walnut cake.)
@marbles Here's a link to the Alan Partridge bit:

@cosullivan It reminds me of 'The Hitch-hiker's Guide To The Galaxy' with the voice-over at the end. Too bad Peter Jones died in 2000!

@marbles The comments assure me I'm not the only codger who feels this pain.

Do you order from an independent, small business bistro or cafe? My issue recurs in a Western Canada chain, Vancouver chain, and one highly successful but sole location Vancouver bakery. So much for choosing Canadian business.

@cosullivan Costa, a national(?) chain of cafés. I work on my problem recognising people by trying to memorise the names of the members of staff :-)
@marbles I should make walnut cake. Or a walnut torte. Or a spice cake.
