@cosullivan Amelia got me (among other things) 3 films of 'The Maltese Falcon' for my birthday! Hooray!
Of course, I'd seen the 1941 one many times. Just watched the 1931 one. I was surprised how similar it was to the '41 one (except a cop says Wilmer killed Gutman and Cairo, and there's an extra scene at the end with Miss Wonderly in jail). 1936 'Satan Met A Lady' yet to watch.
Oh, one of the first things I noticed about the 1931 one was how much make-up and hair-dressing they were wearing! Well, it was only 4 years after 'The Jazz Singer'.
Not sure why they bothered to remake it in 1941! More-famous actors?

@cosullivan Just rewatching 'The Shop Around The Corner' for the first time in ages. Very funny. How much better is it than 'You've Got Mail', do you think? A zillion or a kerjillion? 🙂

@cosullivan Just watching an episode of 'The Art of Film' about comedy. You'll be please to know that the presenter thinks the kings of silent comedy were Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, and Harold Lloyd.

I can send you my old Rotring technical drawing pens* if you like. The last I looked, they were all blocked up, but that was decades ago! They're in a special container for cleaning them!
(*Actually, it's probably just the 'nibs'; I think the bodies are OK... if I can find them!)
