What is up with Netflix suddenly having all these documentaries about dead presidents? IDGAF about any of them. They were all colonizers. Washington, Roosevelt (I think there's one about both of them), Garfield, and more I can't remember off the top of my head.
it's worse since I watched the Sitting Bull documentary yesterday. So many more recommendations of docudramas about these white men have appeared in my recommended.
I took Native American history way back in college in the early 80s and I knew some of the story but the documentary covered so much more and made it live in a way just reading about it and hearing a teacher lecture about it did not.
I have felt heavy with sorrow since I finished it yesterday, thinking about all the genocide, the slaughter of the bison, people fighting to retain their ancient way of life and being forced to assimilate. Seeing it in a story form makes it more real and immediate than words on a page do. Even though I knew these things, it still hit hard like it was new.
When I get reply guys being mad when I say the Democrats are as bad as the Republicans, I know they don't know the real history of the US. Just the factory school version that's full of lies about glory and heroism.
The US is built on the blood of millions of non-white people and is evil to its root. It's been an engine of destruction throughout its history; a manifestation of Leviathan in all its deeds.
