A lot of the world’s problems could be solved if men just stayed in our lane. Prove me wrong. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@QasimRashid

Seems a bit odd for a topic that's under constant debate worldwide by people of all sexes and genders for thousands of years.

The last debate I seen on this was from a woman, so really weird to see a man saying she basically doesn't exist as he decides what is and is not a debate re people not wearing enough hats.

Much of the current debate seems to be related to the novel religion of Islam that's weaponized it at scale as part of a performative group points scheme.

Fuck off, bot

@TeflonTrout thanks for the questline NPC

@QasimRashid And the old debate about ALT-texts doesn't die either.

remember that some nations force women to wear the hijab. Other nations force women to remove the hijab. In every single case the issue isn't the hijab or women—but insecure men who force their views upon women.

So in short, there's no hijab debate. There's just weak men who don't know how to shut up and stay in their lane."

@QasimRashid It is cultural. Until the 17th century, European women were supposed to wear some kind of hair/head covering. Look at any medieval illustration and they will be wearing some kind of veil. The tradition continued up to the 20th century among the peasantry.
@QasimRashid
Agreed. Last I checked the wearing of the hijab or burqa was matter of choice for women who wanted to be regarded as traditional modest women. Any man using violence or legislation to tell women what they can wear really wants to have a good long think about why they want to do that.

@QasimRashid

I think the women of the world should legislate the wearing of codpieces for men.

Let's see how that goes, considering how many of them couldn't even bear to wear a mask.

@QasimRashid I would note that a number of women enforce these things as well. I think the issue is that authoritarians of all genders should not be given power. It is interesting to consider why women are a frequent target of authoritarians.

@QasimRashid It's also interesting to wonder why some humans target themselves. Authoritarians often go after women, religious minorities, LGBTQ, immigrants - and that's true even when the authoritarian is from one or many of those groups.

Personally I think they're folks with a BDSM kink who have found a very toxic outlet for it. If they could find the right partner and do whatever they do in their private bedroom we'd all be better off.

@lyda @QasimRashid

Oh no

The pressure cooker of my mind just shat out this little diamond?

"Hey baby, are you the means of production"

If you control where people come from you own that society. yuck

@QasimRashid
and, potentially, weak men and women who don't want to give up the power that religion bestows upon them (because, in many cases, they'd be nothing without it)?
@QasimRashid I think your hypothesis is correct but your evidence is flawed. British society has always been suspicious of face-coverings. Motorcycle helmets worry banks too. Mix that in with a sprinkle of other prejudices and "how do you know someone with something over their head IS a woman?". It's not like the UK hasn't suffered terrorist attacks by Islamists, so the fear is not entirely baseless, even if you aren't a racist.

@woo @QasimRashid

Oh come on. Has anyone banned sunglasses and baseball caps?

@HakeemG @QasimRashid They don't hide the face and identify. Hoodies were banned in some areas because they did and were being used to avoid CCTV cameras when stealing. British English has many phrases like "show your face" and "look at me when you are talking". People who don't are seen as untrustworthy. Not observing such customs is a great way to not fit into a society. Try going into the Vatican wearing shorts.
