Today is installation day, so let's see how this idea of showing archival materials and books together with my drawings, in a historic house museum, plays out. How much will we need to spell out in the signage or object labels? I like to let viewers make their own connections, but historic museums tend to be heavy on the explanations, so we'll see!

@rejinl I usually spend a lot of time reading the explanations when I’m in a museum but I found for my own show, people didn’t read the artist statement so didn’t get it
@monicarooney Yes, exactly. I have work in a show now where they put all the info in a binder, but most people don't go looking for the binder.
@rejinl I’m the person who reads the binder. I was at an art show a few weeks ago with my son and they had photocopies of the art cards they put beside the work explaining it and he had me take one home. Just like mom!
