@aeris @GrapheneOS

@CelianGodefroid @aeris @camillem @noemiek There are other users reporting the latest version of GrapheneOS and the latest version of the app available for them from the Play Store (which is not always the latest due to staged rollouts) are working for them. It's possible they're gradually rolling out a new version of the app or a service-side change resulting in GrapheneOS users being banned. It's also possible @aeris needs to change how something is configured in order to have it working.
@FelixDefrance @aeris @GrapheneOS a.k.a.
@KewlCat @FelixDefrance @aeris It would still work on GrapheneOS with sandboxed Google Play if that was what was wrong. They should not be requiring Google Play but probably do. The error message indicates that they're actively going out of the way to detect and ban an OS not licensing Google Mobile Services. It's possible it can be made to work on GrapheneOS as they do not appear to be using the Play Integrity API for it. Some users report it works but it doesn't mean they aren't banning it.
@KewlCat @FelixDefrance @aeris It's possible they're rolling out a service-side change banning other operating systems with information sent by current versions of the app already. These changes are often gradually phased in for a small number of users for testing while minimizing how many users will experience issues initially so they can decide if they want to roll it out further. If that's what's going on then complaints being made right now are crucial including from people not impacted yet.

@aeris @GrapheneOS info inutile : testé sur #murena /e/OS #eOS ça passe (encore).

@gael @aeris That's helpful information since it shows it still works for at least one person on the latest OS release.

Does the app work without you enabling the per-app exploit protection compatibility mode for it?

It's possible @aeris has opted into enabling more GrapheneOS exploit protections for user installed apps where the app might be incompatible with one of those. There are other likely possibilities though. They may just be gradually rolling out banning using a non-GMS Android OS.

@abon999 @aeris That could be what's wrong, although several other people are reporting it works for them without saying they needed the per-app exploit protection compatibility mode. One possibility is that @aeris opted into additional protections for user installed apps which aren't enabled by default and it might be incompatible with one of those, but those features show notices in nearly all cases where the app does something incompatible so that probably isn't the issue.

@aeris @GrapheneOS

@aeris Please provide the following info:

1) Confirm the device is locked as expected
2) Device model
3) GrapheneOS version from Settings > About > Build number
4) Version code of the app shown at the bottom of Settings > Apps > App name
5) Does GrapheneOS show a notice about it using the Play Integrity API? If it doesn't then the app isn't using it so that's not the issue.

Try the per-app exploit protection compatibility mode to see if it's a memory corruption bug or similar issue in the app.
