#tfw it's after Memorial Day and 80° outside and you suddenly realize you haven't taken the snow tires off the minivan yet.
I guess I know what I'm spending the next hour and a half doing!
After years of practice I really can do it in an hour and a half:
Put tires on rims from under porch into minivan.
Put jack and big socket wrench from basement into minivan.
Drive to parking lot.
Get tire iron out of spare.
Loosen all lugnuts.
For each tire: position jack, jack up, remove lugnuts, remove old tire, put on new tire, put on lugnuts, lower jack.
Tighten all lugnuts.
Put away tire iron.
Put old tires in minivan.
Drive home.
Put tires under porch.
Put jack and wrench away.
@jik For speed, get yourself a small battery powered impact gun, and a 2ft breaker bar to make loosening the lug nuts a breeze. I only use the impact gun for getting off the loosened bolts, and lightly torquing the lug nuts — but it makes a few minutes of fumbling about take just a second or two.
@JustinDerrick Meh, not worth the expense given that I do this at most twice a year, and in my experience battery packs used that infrequently die extremely prematurely.
@jik I have a popular-yellow-brand battery powered impact gun, and it not only holds a charge, I’ve had it and the battery for 6 years without issue. It does get some extra use as I have a habit of changing tires for folks on the side of the road. I probably only charge it 3 times a year.
@JustinDerrick And I have a popular-orange-brand cordless drill that I had to stop using because it destroyed multiple battery packs because I used them too infrequently.
Disputing the problem I mentioned by describing circumstances which don't match the problem I mentioned certainly is a look.
