Every year, I find the San Francisco Pissed Off Voter Guide to be the best and most useful one. I especially like that they show their work.

The Governor primary is particularly vexing this year because, as an open primary, the top two vote-getters advance to the general, so it's possible for the mediocre batch of Democrats to split the vote and we end up picking between two Republican ghouls in the general. So this year's primary is more game-theoretic than I'd prefer.

Normally I trash the political mailings without even looking at them, but this anti-Scott Wiener one goes hard:
@jwz That's one way to get a privacy-minded electorate's attention!
@jwz
Now you just need to verify whether or not it's true. Anybody could claim that anybody else is affiliated with ice, and most people would not bother to actually check.
@humbird0 Actually I don't need to verify anything, because Weiner had long ago lost my vote because of [ gestures at his entire legislative career ]
@jwz about three months ago I was pretty sure I was gonna vote for wiener. The intervening time has certainly changed that.
@fluffydotorg He's been just amazingly awful for a very long time.
@jwz did you miss this one?
@jwz Thank you for the reminder that this exists. I hate this election so much
@pixel @jwz fuuuck that clown car
@Irishmasms @jwz yes, but unfortunately these are the clowns we have to choose from, and if we don't all the other morons in California will do it for us.
@pixel @jwz reminds me of a certain south park episode on this topic
@jwz second time I've seen people picking Steyer over Becerra.  not super jazzed by either but not sure why people i generally respect are picking a hedge fund billionaire over someone with real political experience in Ca and nationally.
@fedipete @jwz Mainly because he’s actually contributed to progressive causes, he isn’t just spouting progressivism. Also, we do have the ability to recall him if he pulls a Fetterman. If he hadn’t actually put his money where his mouth is for 10-15 years now, I’d also assume he was a spoiler. If a Republican makes it to the top 2 I’ll hold my nose and vote Beccera, but I think the preferable outcome is that the top two are Beccera and Steyer (with Steyer winning).
@jwz A bunch of this aligns with Knock LA's voter guide as well (for folks in SoCal.) They also picked Jane Kim, and also picked Steyer (albeit with more colorful language, and more vomit jokes.) But holy fuck, 54 candidates for governor—and not a good one among them—and two of the worst have a real shot this year. Thanks for reminding me again about the SFPOVG.
