The Thermal Water Lily's "vending machine" story!

Keijin here. Declared "Extinct in the Wild" in 2008, this lily was found again in 2023! But its survival is heavily managed.

Like a coffee machine run by a guy inside, it looks natural but the core is artificial. Unless we fix the root issues, nothing changes.

今回は、オンセンスイレン（学名：Nymphaea thermarum）の「自動販売機」みたいな話です。2014年の図鑑では、2008年に温泉まわりの環境が農地利用の影響で変わってしまい、生息地が壊れて「EW：野生絶滅」と評価されました。ところがその後、2023年に野生の個体群がもう一度見つかって、IUCNは2024年に評価を更新し、「CR：深刻な危機」へ改訂しています。だからオンセンスイレンは今も、「野生は薄く、管理は濃い」そんな状態なんだと思います。この記事は短くて、5分くらいで読めます。よかったら最後まで読んでください。
